Joseph Schrum of Halcyon Forge is an American Bladesmith living in Missouri. One of my all time favorite makers worldwide for the character, uniqueness and well rounded performance. Joe loves making all sorts of pattern welded steels and tries to use natural, reclaimed materials as much as possible.
This blade was made from pattern welded steel of 1095 and nickel in a tight ladder pattern. In hand the damascus pattern almost a 3D effect in the steel between the layers. So much character happening in this steel, you can get lost in it very easily. This steel construction not only looks incredible but has some of the best edge life and durability of any pattern welded steel construction. The handle is oval shape made from a burnt piece of Osage orange and african blackwood ferrule.
Edge length: 165mm
Height at heel: 51mm
