The Masakage Mizu is forged by Takumi Ikeda out of Aogami #2 (blue) steel. "Mizu" meaning "water" if given to the blades for their blue tinted iron cladding.

Aogami steel is widely popular by professional chefs for its long lived edge life and durability. The Mizu line represents high quality performance for a great value. Hardness rating of 62-64 HRC. Handle is a cherry wood oval handle with a blue resin ferrule.
